15mm
BLUT UND EISEN
EUROPEAN ARMIES 1860 - 1880
I originally began this line sometime back in the late 90s for purely selfish reasons. I wanted a 15mm Austrian army dressed in the correct style of 1866. However, as with many other good ideas I never did complete the project, for example, you will notice that there is no artillery or mounted staff. There are also no enemies for the Austrians to fight or even allies to join them. I therefore never did advertise the existence of this these miniatures, although as word leaked out over the years some gamers have managed to lever some out of me and man their mid C19th tabletop ranks with these minis.
Despite, or perhaps because of, my obviously incompetent efforts to keep these minis under a mushroom it seems that interest in my 15mm 1866 Austrians continues. In response to a request from the ever helpful and incredibly enthusiastic mid C19th guru Darryl Smith host of the War of 1864 Group [amongst others], I have resurrected my 15mm Austrian line. Therefore for the first time offering them as an official CFM product. Additions to the line in future will really depend upon the interest shown and sales that result.
As a guide to size. I based the height of my figures on AB minis but my minis are lighter of frame and would probably not look out of place with or near any but the smallest of 15mm.
THE AUSTRIAN ARMY 1866
The army of the Hapsburg Kaiser Franz Josef as it appeared in 1866, the fateful year of the seven week "Bruderkreig" [Brothers War] in which the Austrian Empire allied to some German States unsuccessfully attempted to thwart the plans of Bismarck's Prussia to dominate the North German states. This short but savage war is perhaps one of the most important yet underrated conflicts in European history.
Infantry - all "German" uniform in overcoats unless otherwise noted.
